Instead of sending out company Xmas cards to clutter desks, annoy people in post rooms and create a major recycling headache for the New Year, since 2006 we have continued to sponsor a child in India through Action Aid. Dipika is 13 now and we get regular updates on her progress, together with pictures like this one.
She evidently has a wicked sense of humour and has thrived at school, getting great marks across all her subjects (we are told) and also coming second on Sports Day. Dipika has a physical disability which has made life even harder for her than it is for many kids in rural India but it’s heartwarming to hear news of her progress.
It’s an easy thing to do, and totally worthwhile; we would recommend a child sponsorship like ours to any business, no matter how small. It’s a great way to have a real, direct impact.
